Hi there! We're your podcast hosts Hannah and Lotty. It's so lovely that you're joining us on this project. Between Hannah's crazy ideas, and Lotty's creative flair we have baked up a storm, and we're now inviting you along! I'm sure you'll get to know us better throughout this podcast, but here's the Spark Notes version of our friendship.
We met as children, about 3 years old, after Hannah moved in across the road from Lotty. We very quickly became inseparable, and despite going to different schools, having some different hobbies and even moving all over the world, we have stayed united over a love of all things books & baking.
Even now in our mid twenties you can regularly find messages between us of “I just tried this recipe, it's amazing, you need to try it”, and “look what I baked”.
Despite having over 150 miles between us, we have remained close and cannot wait to bring you along to our weird and wonderful world.

About me: HANNAH
What is my favourite film?
The Last Five Years (2014) - This is a really inspiring musical -film, all about love and loss told from both sides of the partnership. A married couple from meeting to divorce told from both partners at opposite ends of the story, watching him fall in love with her, whilst watching her fall out of love with him.
What's a book I think everyone should read?
Fiction : Noughts & Crosses, Malorie Blackman . This love-story is so much more than it appears in first glace, an interracial couple fighting for their love in a world that doesn’t accept it. Passionate, and heart throbbing, I managed to read the whole series in only a matter of weeks.
Non-Fiction- Invisible Women, Caroline Criado-Perez . All of the data in this book is truly shocking, from cars not being crash tested with female dummies and phone’s not being designed for women’s hands.
What's my ideal cosy night in?
It could be a variety of things, I’m an activities kind of girl, and do not do well sitting still, therefore a cozy night in is one with activities! I can be found doing any of the following, and many many more - Building Lego Sets, Baking, Having a candle-lit bath with a good book, playing board games with my partner...

About me: LOTTY
What is my favourite film?
Amélie (2001) - it's colourful, it's creative, and it has a very sweet message about how even the tiniest bits of kindness can change everything. I've loved this film ever since I first watched it and it still shapes how I see the world today.
What's a book I think everyone should read?
Fiction - Iron Widow, Xiran Jay Zhao;
A futuristic science-fantasy inspired by Chinese history and mythology, Iron Widow follows Wu Zeitan, a re-imagining of China's first and only female emperor, in a dark and twisty story that dives into entrenched oppression and unfair gender roles. The sequel is on its way in 2024 and I have never been so excited for a book launch!
Non fiction - Humankind: A Hopeful History, Rutger Bregman
I genuinely think everyone should read this book. It is an amazing exporation into how humanity isn't actually entirely terrible, backed up by science. Humankind argues that believing in the inherent kindness of humanity can reshape our outlook and make the world a more positive place.
What does my ideal cosy night in look like?
You'd most likely find me curled up on the sofa with a good book, experimenting with a new recipe, or building ridiculous mansions on the Sims.
